The helmet was found in Stalingrad, in the Soviet region of Volgograd on Lysaya Gora. Fierce battles for height 145.5 and the adjacent territory were fought continuously from September 1942 to January 1943 for 147 days. The helmet was found on the positions of the German mortar gunners 81 mm
