The helmet was found in one of the backwaters of the river Don near the village Vertyachiy. Nearby was a pontoon ferry across the river erected by the German soldiers.Due to the fact that the helmet is seated in a semi-swampy backwater it is well preserved but not preserved leather liner. The helmet has a dual repainted. The main feature of this helmet – the swastika on a forehead part of the helmet, painted by the owner of the helmet.
