The helmet was found during excavations in the North of Stalingrad, in a place called Latoshinka. The helmet was found 3 kilometers from the right Bank of the Volga river. This is the place where found the helmet was one of the first areas of Stalingrad, which was conquered by 6 army of Paulus and one of the last German fortifications capitulated at the end of the battle of Stalingrad.
